Doc Savage

Living next door to Tom growing up, there were always stories of what mishaps had befallen Tom from one week to the next. My mum always said he should have kept a diary of them and then published them, although I don't think anyone, unless you knew Tom, would believe them.
On a Sunday morning you would hear noises reminiscent to old war planes taking off, that was just Tom, Adam and Jamie setting off on ride out into the countryside, something I regret not going in to sooner, maybe I could have been the fourth musketeer?
I was lucky enough to get invited to the cinema a few times and we would watch the latest Superman or James Bond, but the one that always stuck with me, not just for the poor acting and 2nd rate film sets, was Doc Savage, Man of Bronze.
To me Tom was Doc Savage. Strong as an ox (he crushed my hands on a regular basis) and with the corny one liners thrown in for good measure.
From that day forwards I was always Doc Haynes, man of putty. A name I am now going to miss.
